This long established family business provides heating and cooling solutions for UK industrial and commercial customers primarily on a business to business basis.
Our heritage
Harry Taylor was formed in the Manchester area in 1925 by the Company’s founder and name sake. It has been managed over the last 100 years by 4 generations of the same family. Originally the business was involved with boilers and centralised wet systems in industrial and commercial buildings. Harry Taylor has demonstrated an ability to evolve and adapt quickly to market and technological changes and the main focus of the company is warm air and radiant heaters for the winter and evaporative cooling products for the summer reflecting the market move to decentralised systems.
In the mid 70's the Company pioneered the sale and installation of low cost packaged heating systems for industrial and commercial buildings. By cutting out the middleman this business to business model meant the customer was able to buy the right heating solution at the right price. This has been the foundation of Harry Taylor’s success in recent decades.
In 1962 Harry Taylor was incorporated as Harry Taylor of Ashton Ltd. Over time the Company acquired property and it was decided to split the heating business from the property business.

The 2024 restructure
In September 2024 a new company, Harry Taylor HVAC Ltd was demerged from the original company and is now clearly focused on the heating and cooling business.
National coverage
Harry Taylor offer their expertise and equipment nationwide from their offices in Ashton and Bromley. The Company has always emphasised the importance of accreditation and prides itself on the quality of its staff training programme. The Gas Industry was overseen by CORGI and now by Gas Safe. Membership is mandatory for companies working in the Gas Industry ensuring gas operatives are properly qualified, provide technical advice and can be called in by a customer if they are concerned about the quality of workmanship. Even before membership became mandatory in 1991 Harry Taylor were members of CORGI
Harry Taylor has also regarded the measurement of quality management as fundamental to the Company’s service and it achieved BS5750 in 1994. This standard has evolved to become ISO9001:2015.
Energy efficiency
Energy efficiency has been an important driver for Harry Taylor. The Company has been marketing cost effective, energy efficient solutions for over 20 years and has long championed the use of destratification fans. Basic physics means that heat rises and collects at high level. Destratification fans recycle otherwise wasted warm air that collects in roof spaces sending it back to ground level where the heat is required. This process can save up to 30% of running costs.
Another example of Harry Taylor’s endeavour was when the Carbon Trust was created to oversee the Government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme. The Energy Technology List was created and Harry Taylor achieved qualification for inclusion for its Modine PDE range of heaters. Further down the line when the Carbon Trust produced its Green List of accredited suppliers Harry Taylor was one of the first installers to achieve accreditation.
Harry Taylor has built up close relationships with most of the suppliers to the UK market including Powrmatic, Reznor, Spaceray and Winterwarm and have detailed knowledge of most appliances in this field.
